Why are we selling out?
I came to h8 servers to get great competition (at my level) and to have some quake 3 fun. There have always been hack accusations tossed around for as long as I can remember. However, most were simply accusations and we had great h8 admins that intelligently saw through the accusations and game play went on. However, on a few occasions a few lame foe chose to use their moded programs on h8 servers and, in my opinion, were dealt with swiftly and sternly as to keep a legit community of players associated with h8 servers.
Since then, unfortuanately things have changed. It seems we have players return day after day, blatently using game modifying programs. I have seen it brought to many h8 admins' attention, seen them verify it, and still it goes unchecked. I understand that 'kids will be kids' and that for some excelling in a video game is at times perhaps all their life has to offer. I for one, as a child, was certainly more interested in winning by fair means then by playing at all.
Although hacking bothers me to some extent, I still get enjoyment out of the increased challenge. However it really bothers me to see someone new to quake go up against a hacking player. It is hard enough for them with as many truely good players there are around these days. Therefore, my proposition is this, if we are going to allow some players to use their hacks, lets allow anyone that wants to. Lets make them readily available as to remove the unnecessary advantage. This is ofcourse not the ideal solution to the problem, however, it seems nothing is being done toward that goal.
Please feel free to 'let me know what you think' and I furthermore will be happy to supply the hacks to any of you that want them (once they are allowed), and as for me, I will play legit or I won't play.
