Whatsup with the server? trying to play...cant .. Anyone with info please respond...Oh ya, a second thing....I am having problems now with my ping to the server...Normally ( 2 weeks ago) my ping was allways in 50's and 60's and now its hitting as high as 150 but consistantly is 120-140 ! Now when im fragging peeps that dont know me they are talkin shyt like im a lagger and thats why i am owning them lol...its pissing me off ! i play on a p3 700 mhz POS computer and i still represent lovely...but, i still need help..i am on a cable modem connection..i live in sarasota florida...i reset the modem box..snaps are 40 and rate is 35,000......what other commands may help me with this ? like i said..my ping was alllways great until 2 weeks ago...now its causing probs with my play....any help is appreciated ! cya on the server when its up

Yep, the server is down. Im sure when CB is available he will address the issue he is always good about informing us of the issue, just be patient in the meantime.

About your ping. the 3 basic commands that i would say most people use to adjust their ping is.

/rate 25000
/Cl_maxpackets 30 -- least thats what i use.
/snaps 40 -- is what i use.

this differs though between the users for they have different locations and different connection speeds. Test them out and see what works, i suggest testing them out on the OSP server where normally there arn't alot of people. Keep in mind that the F4A mod has its own baseq3.cfg folder so your settings could be mixed up between the Quake 3 baseq3.cfg file and the server mod file baseq3.cfg. That depends on where you type those commands above in.

dont set /rate 25000...h8 max rate is set to 10000 anyway.

Its not that , i have all such settings set, but still some times the ping just go crazy. I think may be its an ISP issue, when they have network problems,
The best thing is to find out the number of hops u are getting to the gateway/destination under ideal ping conditions and then compare them with the number of hops u will measure during worst ping conditions

I just did a traceroute today (to the h8 server) and found 13 hops from me to chicago. I know it depends on your location but how many hops do the rest of you get?

My route goes something like this; Boise>NewJersey>Seattle>WashDC>Chicago. Is this crisscrossing the country 4 times normal? I know Boise sits on a fiber optic backbone so why doesn't it go Boise>Denver>Chicago? So I could get 25 ping and own you all, LOL.

have no idea about most of what was said in the above..., but is there a way to limit the number of hops? Can u direct ur connection to just make say 3 hops?
