Lightbulb Map / Server Suggestions

Since self damage is going to stay off, I was thinking that the server really needs to get rid of some maps and add new ones. Some of the maps are very cramped and it's really easy to turn corners and rocket jump kill everyone and be the victim of it as well. I don't know what happened to that Uberkill map, but that one would be awesome for all you rocket loving people (and it's just a really fun map). One map that needs to go is Q3DM8 in my oppinion. So h8 should replace that one with uberkill. <3

I also think that if new bigger maps are added, you should lengthen the frozen time from 90 seconds to 120 and make it take longer to thaw people if possible. That way it prevents the game from going on forever...and if it does take a little longer than normal, is it possible to change the game ending at 5 or 8 points instead of 10?

There are some OSP servers in 1.32 that have self damage off, but have maps that are perfect for it to where the rockets are not abused at close range. I have a fresh install of quake, so I don't know any of the map names that I liked most, but here is a list from a server I played on a while back. (Some of these might be horrible for freeze, I can't remember all of them. I'm just posting them hoping someone here actually takes the time to learn map names and knows if one of these are good or not) =8)

Mess around with the standard settings server if anyone in h8 thinks any of this is a good idea. I wouldn't mind playing with a bunch of bots and self damage off if the server had nice maps to go with the settings. Also, maybe you could use some of the maps that you had on the custom map server way back in the day also?

...and if anyone else has any ideas, post away.

Great suggestions, thanks. I was changing up the maps every week to keep things from getting too stagnant, uberkill got left out the last time and I haven't changed the rotation in awhile again.

There are 5 or more cpma maps I think would be great additions, but I haven't put and of them on there as of yet. Maybe I'll add a couple at a time, and drop the questionable stock maps.

ospra3map1 and 9 are great maps, but since they are ra3 remakes there are no weapons or items so the bots can't navigate. Might not matter but I try and make sure the bots are able to function on the maps we put up.

The ctf and 3w maps are an interesting idea. We've discussed trying ctf maps before, I'm open to trying them.

I'm hesitant to lengthen the autothaw time, though lowering the caplimit from 10 is a possibility.

Eh, I forgot a lot of the maps they used at that server were for CTF (They voted on the mod they wanted to play and what not). I'll download all of them from their site and figure out which ones are what. Some CTF could work, but others...not so much.

thephhortress, lsjg_coop and q3ngiarena3 is a pretty good map good size and has open areas.

You could look at pro-q3tourney-7 its a decent size.

Also would be a good map [ ..::LvL - Q3A Custom Maps - Rusty Browns by Eraser ]

Big Pimpin osp server runs most of those maps, so it would be easy to tell which 1's are good and bad.

yeah that link above that vayne posted takes ya to LvL World [ ..::LvL - Q3A Custom Maps ] They have tons of maps...most of them have critiques by ppl who've played them and new maps are added all the time...but...I agree with j4k...I like the server no matter what the settings/maps

Some of the map are alright on there, but you have to look for the ones that are gonna suit the game type that is gonna be played.

Auto download uses bandwidth up from the server that your getting them from so the ppl on the server might feel the affects if to many ppl are trying to get them.

Leave auto download on for a month or so. I can deal with the possibility of lag as long as other people are getting the maps and joining the server.
