quake 3 widescreen support

Just got my Dell 2407wfp monitor and realized that q3 looks UGLY on widescreen. Turns out there is a solution to this problem! Way to go for the game released in 1999(?)

7 ) Use find (Ctrl-F) to find the string 'seta r_customwidth' and
change the value in the quotes to read either 1680 or 1920, whichever
res you have
8 ) The string 'seta r_customheight' should be below it, if it isn't,
find it, ad change it to whatever value you want. E.g: 1050 or 1200.
9 ) THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Change the line 'seta r_mode' to '-1'.
Otherwise it will ignore the settings and do its own thing.
10 ) Find the line 'seta cg_fov' and change the value to '115' or
whatever you want. You can even set it to 360, but it looks like a
fisheye lens. The exact Field of Vision is a matter of taste, so
fiddle and find which setting you like the most!

PS playing q3 in 1920x1200 with fov=130 is whole new experience

Re: quake 3 widescreen support

thought you weren't even able to do that, even though i do not have a wide screen monitor .
1999 is the right year, says it at the bottom of the start up.

post some Screen shots!

This **** is off the hook, man! Just make sure you use DVI input from your video card. I have to share it between 2 computers, and the one that uses old d-sub VGA connector has very little text scrolling problem. Not that it bothers me, just worth mentioning.

I get so much screen real estate now in Visual Sudio that it's scares me

The cardreader and USB hub come in handy too.

I want to hook up my dvd player and see how component input works. And I'm thinking of getting tv-tuner card and see how it performs with HD content.

And final part - it's real cheap now in US, was on sale last week for like $670.

Re: quake 3 widescreen support

Id love to try playing Prey single player or q4 single player on a wide screen.
