OK y'all,


I'm soooooo over my new stupid modem. I have a Westell 6100 modem from Verizon. I have Verizon DSL. Well, apparently this new modem has a built in router. So, it cause 2 problems....1, I can't run a quake server for when me and a few ppl wanna play diff mods b/c they can't connect to my server that I create....and 2, I know Daddio had asked if I would host a TeamSpeak server again and it won't let ppl connect to that either.

Well...thru googling and such...I've learned that I have to disable the router somehow..and also something bout creating a static ip...and also something about forwarding ports....but...when I try to do what these sites tell me...ummm...I lose all internet connection and have to reset my modem...so I think I'm doing something wrong...or maybe gettin' the wrong help from various links..

Can anyone of y'all computer geniuses help me?

i would call verizons tech support...they should be able to walk you through that process pretty easily.

hopefully the router is somewhat the same as my linksys, I dont use one now but where you can setup stuff, you have to enable the DMZ, this allows your PC to be seen on the internet.. Not forwarding stuff or anything but doing what I just said, that is if the it's the same typr of router.. Hope that helped alittle
