Intel Conroe

I was at IDF yesterday and had an hour with the new Intel Conroe. If you want to read about an amazing piece of technology, click here. We also ran some Quake 4 benchmarks... it was absolutely insane.

I spent 10 minutes playing Quake 4 at 1280 x 1024 with high quality settings. WOW!!! That is literally all I can say about that. It looks like Intel will certainly own the performance crown in 2006.

I'll add more to this post later today.

Umm, first things first - I don't think it's just new CPU, but rather platform. CPU + Architecture (Chipset).

And I'm not entirely sure this things gona hit the market this year, but it's certainly displays impressive performance. May be finally AMD kicked Intel's butt hard enough to make it move.

Like I said in my first post, I will have to clear up a few things. I was running out the door when I decided to whip up that post.

As to whether or not Conroe will come out this year, Intel is very confident that it will indeed hit the market in six months.
